John Lang

John Lang

John grew up in the wooded hills of New York State. A small stream, drawn to as a child, became the place he was to build a home, family and business.

Having Scottish heritage, he had a highland wedding and is bagpiper to a sept of the clan MacCrea. His Celtic traditions influence his work and daily life.

Corrie Croft is the name of the place he and his family call home. The stream is in a corrie, or small ravine, and croft is a small farm or landholding, hence the name Corrie Croft. The Celtic influence can also be seen in the interweave of the logo.

After obtaining a B.F.A. degree from the College of Ceramics in Alfred, NY, John taught Elementary Art for five years. He then worked as a book buyer for the local book store. Prior to returning to Alfred University to complete his Masters in Art Education, he was Director and Head Teacher at the Montessori preschool in his hometown of Alfred. John then turned to his wood working knowledge and designed a variety of original wood lamps with wood lamp shades. These unique lamps formed the basis for a business which made lamps that are sold nationwide.
