Kevin Kopil began working wood at age 10. He honed his talents after high school under apprentice programs with master craftsmen, and in 1982 he moved to Vermont. Complimenting Kevin's technical abilities is a solid foundation in the principals of design, which he acquired while pursuing a degree at the University of Vermont. In 1988 he opened a studio in Jonesville, building contemporary furniture and custom woodwork. His first pieces drew on Shaker style. In the early 1990s he collaborated with New York designer Cliff Young on a line with a distinctly Post Modern feel. His more recent fine art furniture is a hybrid of Asian and Mission styles.
Paramount in Kevin's work are clean, understated lines to bring out the natural beauty of the wood, which is carefully selected for color and grain to ensure that each piece has a look and feel of quality. Each piece is signed and guaranteed for the life of the original owner.
Our closely knit group of master craftsmen have mostly been working together since we began making furniture in 1986. We have 5 lead craftsmen each with over 20 years experience. Each of us works with apprentices, showing them our techniques and hopefully nurturing some independent visions.
