Lightsculptures
Life Dance - Niara Isley
I showed artistic talent early in life. Like so many artists early in their development, I was not encouraged to pursue my talent, and was channeled into more "practical" career options. A difficult job in my twenties created a repetitive stress disability, carpal tunnel syndrome, in both hands. It's been with me ever since. The doctor told me my hands would eventually atrophy. I gave up art for years, though I could not give up all my art supplies. They remained carefully packed, moving with me at every geographical shift in my life. The hand problems continued throughout my work life, moving me from job to job. A back injury on top of that resulted in my going on disability completely in 2002.
My hands never atrophied as was predicted. They must be rested from time to time, and I need to set my own work pace. I find that the process of creating art energizes me and nourishes my spirit at a deep level, almost as vital as breathing! Passion for creating art is a healing force.
My art has evolved to an expression of my inner emotional and spiritual landscape. An exploration of the energy relationships with myself, others and my world. I create art for inspiration and process. I ask myself if there is a color or colors to express what I'm feeling and experiencing, then if there are textures, forms or symbols to fill out that expression. Some of my most beautiful and moving work springs from the most intense feelings… and when I allow that process to unfold artistically, the art also brings those feelings to peaceful and uplifting resolution.
I've always wanted to make a shift, an impact in the world. I feel that I can with my art -- in a way that energizes me and creates vibrance and joy. It's about taking what's inside of me and allowing the universality of my experience and its creative expression to reach out and touch others beyond the mind.
While I also love to paint, lightsculptures are my main creative endeavors at this time. I call my lightsculptures my Dance of Light Series Creations. Each is one of a kind and cannot be exactly reproduced. I have new inspirations all the time and I'm working on bringing these into being, one by one, including some in color and designs on the surfaces that work with the light. Lightsculptures are wonderful artistic ambient lighting for living rooms, bedrooms or especially counselors' or therapists' offices or the healing spaces of alternative health care practitioners.
Thanks so much for taking a look, and if you buy, even more heartfelt thanks for your financial appreciation of my work!
